NEW YORK (AP) — A Manhattan judge has convicted the Rev. Al Sharpton and seven others of engaging in disorderly conduct during protests over the police shooting of Sean Bell.
Criminal Court Judge James Stephen issued the verdict on Wednesday. He sentenced the defendants to time already served — in Sharpton's case, 5 1/2 hours.
About 250 protesters were arrested May 7 for blocking bridges, tunnels and intersections. Most of the cases were dismissed, but Sharpton and his co-defendants had insisted on a trial.
Sharpton testified Monday that the protests were peaceful, saying: "We wanted to stop violence, not cause violence."

I wonder how many times Sharpton has been convicted in the past?
