Macro International Inc. is seeking staff for the New Jersey Youth Tobacco Survey.  This survey documents attitudes, behaviors, and knowledge about tobacco use, intent to use, exposure to tobacco use, and exposure to tobacco marketing/advertising among students in grades 7-12.  It is supported by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, in collaboration with University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Public Health.

The training will be held in early October and data collection will continue until late November or early-December.  If you have an interest in the health behavior of adolescents and can commit yourself full-time, you may wish to apply for the NJ YTS data collector position.  This is an opportunity to be involved in an important study on a topic of utmost importance.  If hired, you will work in the state of New Jersey.  This position is NOT recommended for students enrolled in fall semester courses that require weekly class attendance during the DAY.  Those attending some evening or weekend classes are welcome to apply.

WHEN:  The NJ YTS 2008 2-day training will occur during the week of October 13th, followed by approximately 6 to 8 weeks of data collection.  This training is mandatory.

PAYMENT:  Assuming acceptable performance, you will work on a temporary basis as an on-call, off site statutory employee for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. You may expect to earn $100 per day for participation in training.  You will earn $104 x 5 days = $520 per week for weeks in which you collect data from 3 to 5 schools. If you collect data from fewer than 3 schools in a given week, you will be paid on a sliding scale.  For 1 school, you will be paid for 1.5 days ($156). For 2 schools, you will be paid for 3 days ($312). Our hope is that nearly all data collectors will have full weeks of 3 to 5 schools every week of data collection, but we cannot guarantee this since there are many factors beyond our control.   For use of your car, you will be reimbursed at the rate of $.585 per mile (plus tolls and parking).  A limited number of data collectors also will be offered the opportunity for overnight travel.  In such cases, your hotel and food expenses will be reimbursed within government prescribed limits.   In addition, if needed ORC Macro will pre-pay for a hotel room for your stay at training.
