From: NYC OCT 22 TO STOP POLICE BRUTALITY
After four days of a jury trial, in which the ADA and her witnesses
attempted to paint anti-police brutality activist Juanita Young as a
violent, racist criminal who doesn’t care about the well-being of her
daughter, a jury of six returned after two and a half hours of
deliberations with a NOT GUILTY VERDICT ON ALL COUNTS (Obstructing
Governmental Administration, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2
counts of Attempted Assault, 2 counts of Harassment).
Once again, the police attempted character assassination and
intimidation to justify their years of attacking Juanita and her
family and to silence this powerful voice against police brutality
and other social injustices. And, once again, truth won out, and
their blatant lies were almost impossible to ignore.
Props to the jury for seeing past the fabrications, props to Judge
Clancy for being fair and impartial in the proceedings, props to
Juanita’s amazing lawyers Geoffrey Stewart and David Rankin, and a
HUGE THANK YOU to all those who supported Juanita through this
ordeal, coming to court, getting the word out, writing letters to the DA, etc.
VICTORY FOR JUANITA YOUNG!
