Metro Starts Selling Obama Inaugural Cards, Passes

The special edition SmarTrip Metro card to be sold before President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration.

WASHINGTON -- Metro has begun selling special Barack Obama inaugural SmarTrip cards and one-day passes on its Web site.

Riders can buy the plastic SmarTrip cards in advance for $10 with no fare value, or for $20 with $10 worth of fare. The limited-edition cards are rechargeable.

The one-day pass is $10 and is good for unlimited travel on one day between Jan. 17 and Jan. 20.
