Mason's Obama Remark
MYFOXNY.COM - Comedian Jackie Mason may be in hot water over a racially charged remark about President Obama, according to TMZ.com .
The Web site reported that Mason referred to Obama as a "schwartze." It's a word that some claim is equivalent to the "n" word; others say it's just part of the Yiddish culture and literally means black.
The word was allegedly used during Mason's Thursday night performance at Feinstein's at Loews Regency in New York City.
Mason told TMZ that he was outraged at the criticism, saying, "I'm an old Jew. I was raised in a Jewish family where 'schwartze' was used. It's not a demeaning word and I'm not going to defend myself."
In 1991, Mason came under fire when he called New York Mayor David Dinkins, "a fancy schwartze with a mustache." Mason eventually apologized.
