Freedom Strut
Celebrate the anniversary of emancipation in New York State at Lefferts.
Monday, July 5, 1 - 4 p.m.
On July 4th, 1827, slavery was abolished in New York State. For many years this event was marked with annual celebrations on July 5th. Revive this tradition by listening to freedom stories, decorating your clothes, making some noise and strutting proudly as they did back then.
