Sometimes it's not enough to "Just Do It."
One amateur runner from Brooklyn found that out the hard way Sunday, after she finished the Nike San Francisco Women's Marathon with the best time - but a woman who finished 11 minutes later was named the winner on a technicality.
Race officials initially said that Arien O'Connell, 24, of Williamsburg, could not be named victor at the charity race because she did not start with the small pack of "elite" runners, which started the race 20 minutes ahead of the joggers.
Despite not being among the "elite," the fifth-grade teacher's time of 2 hours, 55 minutes, easily bested the 3 hours, 6 minutes posted by Nora Colligan from Texas, who was hailed as the champ after the race.
