State Civil Service Exam Lists Now Available On-Line
Those taking state civil service exams can now check their progress online. Civil Service Commissioner Nancy G. Groenwegen announced May 13 the launching of the Eligible List Management System (ELMS) Online, a new Web site offering job candidates a much more user-friendly system to check their rankings and scores on an eligible list.
In the past, test-takers had to submit written requests to the Department of Civil Service in order to obtain paper copies of the list.
More Convenient for All
"ELMS Online makes immediately available to job candidates and human resource personnel 2,084 current eligible lists," Commissioner Groenwegen said in a statement. "This represents an enormous improvement in convenience and savings in staff time. This project was largely the work of our own staff and we're very proud of the outcome."
In addition to accessing information about their status, registered ELMS Online users can search for information by eligible list number or last name, or search job titles to find out what eligible lists can be used to fill positions.
"We applaud the Department of Civil Service for its efforts to make eligible lists more easily available to or members," said Public Employees Federation President Kenneth Brynien.
ELMS Online can be found at http://www.cs.state.ny.us/elmspublic.
