Fw: Hatewatch Headlines for May 24, 2012

Hatewatch is a weekly summary of the latest news about hate and extremism compiled by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Week of May 24, 2012

30 to Watch
Thirty key leaders of the American radical right – including anti-government activists, racist neo-Nazis and propagandists who promote falsehoods about Muslims and the LGBT community – have emerged over the past decade as the radical right has changed in major ways. These extremists are making headway by exploiting anger over the nation's ailing economy, non-white immigration and the shrinking white majority.

The Scoop on Schoep
Four years after marrying the leader of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement (NSM), Joanna Schoep is getting divorced. In an interview earlier this year, she says that the leader of the NSM – who espouses a violently racist ideology – accepted her non-white ancestry and that of her teenage daughter.

Sins of the Sovereigns
The Republic for the united States of America (RuSA) has grown into the largest group of "sovereign citizens" in the nation. Though RuSA says it seeks only lawful government, evidence of the criminality of many of its members is growing.
